Ongoing Programs of Delaware Pacem in Terris
Members of Delaware Pacem in Terris help bring the healing of peace with justice to our broken world by using their time, talents, and energy to generate and guide projects such as the following:
A diverse community seeking just and peaceful alternatives to armed conflict and oppression.
A program designed to bring conflict resolution training to the elementary school classroom in order to decrease violence in our schools and in our society.
The World PeaceGame, the Climate ChangeGame, and the Conflict ResolutionGame are some of the new offerings from Pacem's new peace education initiative.
Promotes public awareness of the injustices in the current penal system and works for the abolition of the death penalty in Delaware.
Building trust between Northern Irish Catholic and Protestant teenagers.
A restorative justice project of Delaware Pacem in Terris in collaboration with the Delaware Center for Justice that works to eradicate civil barriers to reintegration of ex-prisoners into society by empowering and preparing them to represent themselves before the Board of Pardons.
The Transition Movement is a vibrant, grassroots movement that seeks to build community resilience in the face of such challenges as peak oil, climate change and the economic crisis. It represents one of the most promising ways of engaging people in strengthening their communities against the effects of these challenges, resulting in a life that is more abundant, fulfilling, equitable and socially connected. We believe that we can make the transition to a more sustainable world. We hope that you will join us.
Building safe, non-violent communities free of gun violence. We need to stop the slaughter of our children and other innocent people, including our police officers, by the easy availability of automatic weapons. We need to make it harder for convicted felons, the dangerously mentally ill, and other prohibited persons to obtain guns by implementing strong gun laws and policies that will protect our families and communities from gun violence. We need to bring to light, radically change and end the glorification of gun violence that undermines the moral fabric of our society.
